Good story on Fierce Pharma yesterday on how much of the advertising pie the digital marketplace is commanding from drug and biotech firms peddling their products directly to consumers. Pharma and healthcare concerns spent just over $2.5 billion in 2017 on digital advertising. That number will increase to just over $3 billion this year, $4 billion by 2020 and $4.5 billion by 2021. This encompasses all ads on desktop and laptop computers, mobile phones, tablets and other internet-connected devices. Healthcare concerns are spending nearly 45% of their total ad spend on this medium. TV only gets a third these days and that percentage is falling. So my question to 'The Nation' since this is not my space at all, is how do investors take advantage of this secular trend? Please chime in if you have a trading idea and let's get this conversation started!
