Bloody Elbow reported that Rony Jason was caught on video assaulting a woman at a party in Brazil. As you can see in the video posted on the YouTube channel Tudo Sobre MMA, it is hard to see from the angle the clip was recorded but it appears that the man in the video hits the woman as she is down on the ground as a group of people pull him off and hold him back. It is unclear what provoked the situation.
Rony Jason was The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 1 winner and holds a 14-7-1 professional MMA record. Jason made his professional debut with the promotion at UFC 147, where he beat Godofredo Castro by unanimous decision to win the featherweight bracket of the TUF season. Jason’s recent record in the UFC has not gone so well with three losses and one no-contest in his last four fights. Jason’s UFC Fight Night 67 bout against Damon Jackson was initially a success as the TUF Brazil 1 winner won by submission but the result was later overturned to a no-contest after Jason tested positive for a banned substance.
In 2013, Jason was suspended after losing for the first time in the UFC to Jeremy Stephens. Following his KO loss to Stephens, Jason punched a wall backstage and cut his arm, which ended up having to be stitched up at the hospital. The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) suspended Jason 30 days for the incident with “anti-sportsmanship conduct.”
According to Bloody Elbow, it is unclear if Jason is still signed with the UFC. Jason’s last fight with the promotion was in March where he lost a unanimous decision to Jeremy Kennedy, which took place at UFC Fight Night 106.
