On August 26th, undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather will step into the ring against Conor McGregor in hopes of securing his 50th professional win.
Ahead of the fight, McGregor has repeatedly pointed out that Mayweather is twelve years his elder, explaining that while he is just now in the prime of his physical state, Mayweather is on the decline physically. McGregor wholeheartedly believes that with age on his side, in addition to size and power, that he will be able to hand Mayweather his first professional loss.
Now, Mayweather has posted a video of himself showcasing his speed on the double end bag, complete with a message for those that doubt him due to his age:
“I KNOW I’M NOT THE SAME FIGHTER I WAS 20 YEARS AGO, I’M NOT THE SAME FIGHTER I WAS 10 YEARS AGO… AS A MATTER OF FACT, I’M NOT THE SAME FIGHTER I WAS 5 YEARS AGO,I’M JUST AN OLD LEGEND PUTTING IN WORK IN 16 OZ GLOVES”
While some are doubting Mayweather despite his perfect 49-0 record going into the fight, Mayweather’s assistant coach recently revealed that not only will his fighter defeat Conor McGregor, he will stop McGregor early on in the fight.
He spoke on MMAJunkie Radio last week to make a rather bold prediction, saying:
“MAYWEATHER WILL KNOCK HIM OUT IN THREE (ROUNDS) OR LESS,” REYES SAID. “EVERYBODY THINKS, ‘OH, WELL, FLOYD IS JUST GOING TO DANCE AROUND.’ NOT IN THIS FIGHT. AND HE DOESN’T DANCE AROUND. I DON’T THINK HE DANCES AROUND ANYWAY. YOU HAVE TO TRULY UNDERSTAND THE CRAFT OF BOXING TO REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT HE DOES.”
“(MCGREGOR) DIDN’T DOMINATE NATE DIAZ. … I’M JUST SAYING THAT HE DIDN’T BEAT THE HECK OUT OF NATE DIAZ.”
Only time will tell whether the stars will align for what could potentially be the biggest win of Conor McGregor’s career.
