VIDEO | Francisco Trinaldo spars blindfolded ahead of fight with Paul Felder

Ahead of Francisco Trinaldo’s UFC Fight Night:

Brazil scrap against Paul Felder next month, the UFC vet is preparing in quite the interesting way.

Trinaldo, who comes into the bout on a massive 6-fight win streak, can be seen in the video above sparring blindfolded in preparation for his bout.

Trinaldo’s coach, Andre Dida explained the strange practice to MMAFighting, saying:

“OUR GOAL WITH THIS SPECIFIC TRAINING I INVENTED IS TO HELP THE ATHLETE LISTEN TO THE CORNER. THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO WORK THIS CONNECTION BETWEEN COACH AND FIGHTER. THE FIGHTER NEEDS TO TRUST HIS CORNER. I PUT ‘MASSARANDUBA’ THERE TO WORK AND FOLLOW HIS CORNERS, AND BELIEVE THAT THE CORNERMAN CAN HELP HIM WIN THE FIGHT. IT’S A DIFFERENT WAY TO TRAIN, OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. WE CAN’T DO THIS ALL THE TIME, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE CREATIVE AND LEARN NEW THINGS.”
