Mayweather is undefeated in his professional boxing career holding a perfect 49-0 record while McGregor will make his professional boxing debut with a 0-0 pro boxing record.
Although “The Notorious” does not have any professional boxing experience, his rise to stardom in the UFC has been hard for any other fighter with the promotion to keep up with as he claimed the UFC lightweight championship belt in November by beating Eddie Alvarez. With the win over Alvarez, McGregor became the first fighter in history to be a simultaneous two-division UFC champion as he defeated Jose Aldo in December 2015 to win the undisputed featherweight title. Soon after becoming the “double champ,” McGregor was forced to relinquish his featherweight title and now has a new goal of handing Floyd Mayweather his first professional loss in the boxing ring.
It will be no easy task as Mayweather is considered by many as the best boxer of his generation and is debated in the talks of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport. Mayweather’s defensive boxing style has troubled his opponents as he has been able to adjust to his opponents styles in the ring and come out victorious every single time in his professional career.
Showtime released this great promotional video on Friday after the announcement of the four-city international press tour that will lead up to the big fight on August 26.
There’s no doubt that the buildup for this fight will be one that goes down in history as the two charismatic stars have built a strong following due to what they both do in and outside of competition. However, it will be interesting to see if the actual fight proves to be as exciting as the promotion of the fight itself.
