SI ALL-AMERICAN ROLLS OUT

SI All-American -- the college recruiting arm of SI.com -- unveiled its 1,000 candidates for the 2020 SI All-American high school football team on July 15. Scouting reports and game highlights of each player make this what we are confident is the deepest-ever dive into a recruiting class by a media company.

The roll out effort spotlights one of the growing strengths of the SI brand: channel partners who specialize in coverage of one team. Our college publishers leveraged and localized the list of 1,000 All-America candidates into informative, perspective-setting content for their followers. LSU Country’s Brian Smith, for instance, analyzed the Tigers’ verbal commitments who made the SI list and offered insight on which of them could see immediate playing time for LSU next season. WolverineDigest’s Eric Rutter is using the list as a peg for feature stories on each of the candidates who is a Michigan verbal commit.

Media coverage of the SI All-American watch list so far has ranged from large dailies (see the Dallas Morning News’ No area in the country boasts more elite high school QB talent than the state of Texas, says Sports Illustrated) to smaller-town pride in a local son making good (see Missoula lineman on Sports Illustrated All-America watch list).

Over the coming weeks, SI All-American will unveil its preseason top 10 for each of 14 position groups and offer up its Preseason Top 99 (the SI99) on August 24. For more perspective on the SI All-American watch list, click here.

SI SWIMSUIT MAKING HEADLINES

The buzz around the upcoming launch of the 58th annual SI Swimsuit issue has exploded not just nationally but worldwide, fueled by the multiple ways the cover this year is unique and by the fact that rookie model Valentina Sampaio is the first transgender model ever to appear in SI Swimsuit. Here are two compelling pieces from SI.com:

One dream. Three women. Four covers.
