Mama Teaches: Homeschooling now in session at Maven
“Maven presents the opportunity to be part of a group of talented and respected content creators, and the platform to support parents and educators on a broader scale,” said Mama Teaches founder Brandi Jordan. “One of the things that drew me to Maven was that they fully embrace the concepts of community and innovation. They also respect the rights and privacy of their content creators and visitors -- that’s a breath of fresh air in this day and age. I’m happy to offer my readers a safer, less-regulated platform on which to have discussions, solve problems and support one another.”
Mama Teaches provides resources for parents teaching their children of all ages, from preschool through high school, while supplying additional information for those transitioning from homeschooling to college. Common material on Mama Teaches includes curriculum samples, educational activities, ideas for field trips, STEM lessons, and more. It also facilitates an inclusive community for parent educators.
Jordan is a teacher and former homeschooler who worked as the lead community manager for a large education company while homeschooling her three kids. In that position, she produced teacher education webinars, eBooks and resources to help educators in the classroom and at home.
“The number of children homeschooled in the U.S. has doubled in the past 20 years and continues to grow, as does the need for content to enhance the classroom experience,” said Maven CEO James Heckman. “Maven is proud to welcome Mama Teaches to help parents become more effective homeschooling teachers. Innovative, independent publishers like Brandi will always have a home with our coalition.”
Maven is a coalition of mavens operating on a shared digital publishing, advertising and distribution platform, unified under a single media brand. Based in Seattle, Maven is publicly traded under the ticker symbol MVEN.
