From Education to Liberation
Howard Fuller grew up poor in the inner city. Thanks to his family and his own initiative, he became personally invested in his own education.
Howard went on to become an educator and a civil rights activist. He has spent a career blowing up obstacles that stand between children and their best possible futures.
In this captivating and personal talk, Howard explains the shortcomings of "school choice." Choice is important, but it's only one of three steps for turning education into a process for real liberation. We also need to ensure that every family can choose from excellent options.
And most important of all, the momentum for reform can't come from outsiders lecturing a community they know little about. The social movement must be led by the same people it seeks to help.
