Students For Liberty is pleased to announce that LibertyCon 2019 will feature a carbon tax debate featuring Jerry Taylor, President of the Niskanen Center, alongside Steve Moore, Economist with the Heritage Foundation.
The question for the debate will be “Are carbon taxes a viable solution for climate change?” Arguing in favor of carbon taxes will be Niskanen’s Jerry Taylor, with Heritage’s Steve Moore arguing against carbon taxes.
Jerry Taylor is the President of the Niskanen Center. Before founding the Center in 2014, Mr. Taylor spent 23 years at the Cato Institute, where he served as director of natural resource studies, assistant editor of Regulation magazine, senior fellow, and then vice president. He is the author of numerous policy studies, has testified often before Congress, and his commentary has appeared in The Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other prominent print and electronic outlets.
Stephen Moore, who formerly wrote on the economy and public policy for The Wall Street Journal, is the Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Project for Economic Growth, at The Heritage Foundation. Moore, who also was a member of The Journal’s editorial board, returned to Heritage in January 2014. As Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Heritage, Moore focuses on advancing public policies that increase the rate of economic growth to help the United States retain its position as the global economic superpower. He also works on budget, fiscal and monetary policy and showcases states that get fiscal houses in order.
