Mayweather vs. McGregor Finalized for 8/26, Las Vegas

Rumored for months, the biggest event in all of combat sports is official. Floyd Mayweather (49-0, 26KO) will take on UFC star, Conor McGregor (21-3, 18KO) - in a boxing match - on August 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Don't confuse the size of the event with the competitiveness of the bout, though.
The fight, which was confirmed on both fighters' respective social media accounts, pits the biggest revenue-generating stars of boxing and mixed martial arts against one another, and in the eyes of many, that's the sole reason for an event like this - revenue. Mayweather famously generated 4.6 million PPV buys in his megafight in 2015 with Manny Pacquiao, and McGregor has become far and away the UFC's biggest draw, peaking at 1.65 million PPV buys for his rematch at UFC 202 vs Nate Diaz, which set a new UFC record.
Early odds on the fight have Mayweather an 11-to-1 favorite, but those taking bets are being exceedingly generous to McGregor, who will be making his professional debut as a boxer.
Even Andre Berto (31-5, 24KO), Mayweather's last foe, was around a 30-to-1 underdog, and he was a two-time boxing world champion. McGregor has no such credibility in a boxing ring, despite his accolades as a mixed martial artist, particularly one with a reputable stand-up game.
Nevertheless, the event figures to be a hit. Still unannounced are a few key points commonly seen in a fight negotiation, particularly the weight, total number of rounds, and glove size/weight.
But for now, mark your calendars. Regardless of the competitive nature of the bout, it's bound to generate a massive financial windfall for each fighter. In that regard, there will be no losers in the ring on August 26.

Considering it will be a boxing match, my money is on Mayweather.
